CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Two of the largest banks in the country are opening mortgage-assistance centers in Charlotte to help homeowners with problems, including when they fall behind on payments.
The Charlotte Observer reported (http://bit.ly/nIeKQf) that New York-based JPMorgan Chase & Co. is opening it homeownership center Tuesday where it will offer face-to-face counseling for distressed borrowers with a home loan serviced by Chase or EMC. Chase also will open two other centers this week near military bases in Fayetteville and Jacksonville.
Charlotte-based Bank of America Corp. said Monday it would open it’s a mortgage-assistance center in the city in October. Bank of America also has a mortgage help center in Raleigh, the first in North Carolina.
Both banks say homeowners will find different kinds of help, including assistance on modifying mortgages.
